Sclerotherapy is the treatment of small yet unsightly leg veins through the injection of concentrated salt water (23% sodium chloride). This is a relatively pain free and effective treatment performed often in our office. Stinging and mild leg cramping may be experienced after the injection and last approximately one minute. Several sessions of sclerotherapy may be needed to eliminate all the veins. Usually treatments are done 8-10 weeks apart. Compression hose are required to be worn the first night of treatment and then during the day for the next 1-2 weeks after the treatment. After all the veins are cleared, most people still need a touch up every one to two years to treat the new veins that have formed.
The Microlaser Peel is an intra-epidermal laser peel that precisely ablates the outermost layers of the skin to minimize wrinkles, acne scars, and pigmentation problems, and to improve the skin's tone and texture. This procedure is performed with a topical anesthetic. The downtime is approximately 3-4 days. Typically, patients experience minor sloughing of the skin and redness resembling mild sunburn. A healing ointment is provided to be applied constantly to the treated area. Multiple treatments may be needed spaced 6-8 weeks apart.
