Sonali G. Hanson, M.D. completed her college education at Rice University in Houston, graduating magma cum laude with a B.A. in Psychology in 1991. She attended medical school at Baylor College of Medicine, also in Houston. She earned her medical degree from Baylor in 1995 and began her internship in Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine that summer. During her internship, she trained at Texas Children's Hospital and Ben Taub General Hospital. She began her Dermatology residency at Baylor College of Medicine in 1996, and received her board certification in Dermatology in 1999. She practiced general dermatology for a year in Houston with Suzanne Bruce and Associates, and then completed a one-year fellowship in Pediatric Dermatology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri, training mainly at St. Louis Children's Hospital. She returned to Houston the summer of 2001 to begin building her Pediatric Dermatology practice with Suzanne Bruce and Associates.
She joined Nigro Dermatology Group in March 2004 to concentrate on her Pediatric Dermatology practice, and became board certified in the subspecialty of Pediatric Dermatology in October 2004. She is one of less than one-hundred Board Certified Pediatric Dermatologists in the United States, and she is one of six Pediatric Dermatologists practicing in the Houston area. She and Dr. James Nigro are the only private practice Pediatric Dermatologists in the Houston area.
Dr. Hanson is married and has two young children.
